Ahimsa Yogayama

Teacher Training

Ahimsa Yoga’s Celebrated Teacher Training is Evolving!

For 12 years, Ahimsa’s Yoga Teacher Training program - “Yogayama” has earned a reputation as one of the finest Yoga Teacher Trainings available. A part of what has made Yogayama so successful and effective is that we are ALWAYS looking for ways to improve our program. “Improving” involves keeping our course content up-to-date and relevant, but it also pertains to HOW we teach our future yoga teachers.

This perpetual process of refinement has allowed us to grow, with the express intention of continually improving our capacity to serve our students and their needs — and to meet the unfolding challenges of an ever-changing landscape.

Keep your eyes peeled for announcements in the coming weeks about our upcoming January 2023 training. You can also click here to read about our innovative, weekly Drop-In Teacher Training classes!

  • The Ahimsa Yogayama program is not just a teacher training. It is a journey of transformation. It is exercise in self-discovery. It is an exploration into what makes yoga work. (And sometimes, why yoga doesn’t always work!) The potential for personal evolution that yoga offers is truly incredible, but to fully access its potential, we need to refine our understanding of it and how each of us may best use it to guide us forward on our own individual path.

Yogayama is a training program for individuals seeking a greater experience of health, happiness, and wholeness. It is a program for those interested in how Yoga can help them find their truest path, their highest expression of Self, the realization of their full potential. And it is a training to learn how to help others take a few steps in that direction as well.

  • The next Yogayama Teacher Training begins in January 2023, and takes place on weekends only.

    Stay tuned for specific dates!

  • Ahimsa’s renowned teacher training program is called “Yogāyāma” – Sanskrit for “the expansion of yoga.”  The name highlights the program’s mission to teach more than what is available in regular classes or workshops; making it ideal for either the serious student looking to deepen their practice, or the aspiring teacher looking to lead and inspire others.  The program dives into the study of yoga asana, anatomy, philosophy and teaching methodology, while creating a transformative experience through deep self-exploration, and connecting to a supportive and inspired community of faculty and fellow trainees.

The 2022-2023 training will be Ahimsa’s 13th year training outstanding yoga teachers. Our graduates can be found in studios locally, across the GTA, and internationally, spanning 3 continents.

You will be challenged.  You will have fun.  You will grow.  You will develop amazing friendships.  And you will align more powerfully with your own personal Dharma, the surest path to a life of fulfillment.

The Yogayama program is Ahimsa Yoga’s full teacher training experience — optional continuing education modules are available for yogis who have already trained to be teachers, or who are looking to further expand their knowledge.

  • Ahimsa Yoga is a registered educational institution with the Government of Ontario. The Yogayama program is a registered 200-hour yoga teacher training with the Canadian Yoga Alliance.

That’s why we created this scholarship program!

We will be offering up to 6 scholarships, each ranging from $800-$1900 (depending on financial need) to yogis that exhibit exceptional dedication to the practice of yoga, the development of their yoga education, and genuine financial need.

“I took the Yogayama in 2020. I walked in knowing almost nothing about yoga Philosophy and yoga postures. I had done a great deal of meditation but I wanted to learn the other side of yoga. Taking this training was one of the greatest experiences of my life. If I had the money I would take this course over and over again it was just so amazing. If you want to teach yoga or not I truly believe this will change your life in the most positive ways.” —TS
